Good Friday Service

On Good Friday, we gather to remember the crucifixion and death of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Ecumenical Service here at FPCV (combined with St. John’s Lutheran & Victor UMC)

The Noon ecumenical service will be a Tenebrae service. Tenebrae means “darkness” or “shadows.” Lent begins with a journey into darkness, to a place of deep shadows. Good Friday accompanies Jesus in his last hours, witnessing the cruelties and suffering he endures—the words of condemnation and ridicule. In all this, he is innocent. He is the faithful servant of God, doing his Father’s work and bringing the gospel of love, peace, and hope.

In the Tenebrae liturgy, participants are invited to walk solemnly and attentively with Jesus, reflecting deeply on his passion as the shadows gather and the light gradually fades.
